During his school years, he was awarded national scholarships multiple times and was recognized as an outstanding student. In his graduation year, the Air Force Military Factory extended an olive branch to him and gave him the opportunity to go abroad. The school also offered him graduate school, but this rural child gave up his iron rice bowl and resolutely chose to start his own business – raising chickens. He chose to start his own business in Anyi County and transferred 500 acres of forest land to register the “Anyi Libang Agricultural Company”.
The reason why he did not return to Sichuan and stayed in Nanchang is due to his larger goal in mind: Jiangxi is located in the central region and has the unique ecological and distance advantages for enterprises to move towards big cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen in the future.
In order to find the ideal entrepreneurial base, Limon suffered a lot. He is from Sichuan and is not familiar with the situation in Nanchang. In the scorching summer of Nanchang, in the early stages of his entrepreneurship, he rode a second-hand motorcycle he bought with a scholarship and traveled to every corner of the bay. The scorching sun caused his face to peel twice. Every noon, he was accompanied only by bread and mineral water. Without anyone to accompany him, he couldn’t find a suitable place, and his heart couldn’t help but feel a little sour. After a month of hard searching, I finally found an ideal place in Xinmin Township, Anyi County. Thus began his entrepreneurial career. Entrepreneurship requires capital, and as the household registration is not in Jiangxi, loans cannot be made without collateral. His mother gave him all the savings in the family of 50000 yuan. He spent 3000 yuan just buying books on raising chickens through self-study, practicing and exploring experience at the same time. He practiced during the day and studied at night, but sometimes there were still some unexpected situations.
At that time, whenever the chicken had any problems, he would ride his motorcycle over Meiling Mountain to Nanchang and ask experts from the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences to examine and dissect it. Then ride a motorcycle over Meiling Mountain at night and return to Anyi Chicken Farm. After years of exploration, he became an expert in raising chickens. Limon said, ‘We have always adhered to traditional feeding methods to ensure that our products are absolutely environmentally friendly.’.
The chicken has grown up and laid eggs, and the most headache inducing problem has arisen: how to sell these eggs. Difficult “, as a newly graduated student starting a business in a foreign land without any sales channels or friends, it is difficult to sell 200 eggs every day. Eggs are prone to spoilage in hot weather, and those that cannot be sold can only be thrown away. He is extremely anxious. He went to promote at the entrance of the community, but was caught by the urban management. Helpless, he went to his alma mater to promote to the teachers and tried it for free. Gradually, the quality gained recognition from everyone and there were returning customers. In 2014, Limon participated in the China Green Food Exhibition with these “flying chicken” eggs, attracting many citizens to purchase and dealers to recognize them, which to some extent opened up the situation.
To deeply attract customers, he invites them to enjoy free farm meals, experience catching chickens, and eggs on the farm. Allowing consumers to visit and taste on-site, posting on social media to help promote, successfully solving trust issues; Word of mouth spreads. This move may seem like a loss, but in reality, it is a strategy of “sacrificing small profits for big profits”, which has had a significant effect. Since 2017, the supply of products has been in short supply, and customers have been actively seeking them out.
With the increase in popularity, media outlets such as Jiangxi TV and Jiangxi Daily have successively reported on the entrepreneurial achievements of Limeng. In 2019, Limeng’s entrepreneurial story was featured in a half-hour special report by the CCTV program “CCTV7 Wealth Creation”, and the CCTV program “CCTV Discovering Brands” also gave a special report on Tudan Dan. After eight years of entrepreneurial experience, Limon believes that green and eco-friendly products are the future direction. In terms of poverty alleviation and wealth growth, in order to enable more farmers to follow him throughout the entire industrial chain and strive for a moderately prosperous society. Limon specifically established a cooperative to drive local farmers, fermenting the collected chicken manure and giving it to them as gifts. They use vacant land and idle seasons to plant economic crops such as pumpkins, sweet potatoes, radishes, and corn. After the harvest, farmers will recycle their corn, pumpkin, and sweet potatoes at market prices and use them all to raise ecological chickens. It not only reduces the planting cost for farmers, but also increases their income. At the same time, it has also reduced its own breeding costs, paving the way for a pollution-free and sustainable agricultural ecological cycle.
The successful experience of raising chickens has led the Nanchang Rural Revitalization Bureau to consult Limeng multiple times to impart breeding experience, and have guided the development of the local chicken poverty alleviation industry base in multiple poverty alleviation villages in Anyi County. Nanchang University of Aeronautics and Astronautics also invited him, an outstanding agricultural alumnus, to provide on-site guidance on the breeding and sales of free range chickens at the Chayuan Mountain Poverty Alleviation Base in Zixi County.
Limon’s breeding farm employs more than 40 people in long-term and temporary production, including registered impoverished households, families in difficult mountainous areas, and people over 60 years old who have difficulty going out to work, with a salary of over 2000 yuan. It solves the employment problems of multiple families and lays a solid foundation for their rapid poverty alleviation.
Nowadays, “Libang Agriculture Company” has been awarded the titles of “Agricultural Industrialization Leading Enterprise” and “Top Ten Characteristic Breeding Bases in Nanchang City” by Nanchang City, playing a demonstrative and driving role in the industry. In 2019, the enterprise was awarded the title of “Jiangxi Province Forest Economy Demonstration Base”, serving as a model for the development of forest economy. In 2017, “Libang Earth Egg” obtained “Organic Certification” and won the “Agricultural Product Gold Award” at the “Ecological Poyang Lake, Green Agricultural Products” Shanghai Exhibition and Sales Fair in Jiangxi.
Limeng was also awarded the title of “Top Ten Agricultural Talents in Hongcheng, Nanchang City” by the Nanchang Agricultural Bureau.
